On 11th March 2026, the Micro Enterprises Support Programme Trust (MESPT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) to strengthen collaboration in supporting farmers and growing agribusiness in Kenya.
The partnership brings together MESPT’s experience in supporting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), smallholder farmers, and financial inclusion in agriculture, alongside KAM’s extensive network within Kenya’s manufacturing sector. Through this collaboration, the two institutions aim to strengthen linkages between agriculture and industry while unlocking opportunities for enterprise growth, job creation, and sustainable economic development.
Speaking during the signing, MESPT Chief Executive Officer Rebecca Amukhoye highlighted the importance of partnerships in strengthening agribusiness and creating employment opportunities within the agricultural sector.
We came together with the Kenya Association of Manufacturers to explore how we can strengthen different areas of agribusiness and make them more effective and competitive, with the goal of creating more opportunities for job creation, especially for young people and women. That is why we have committed to this partnership so that we can move forward together and unlock greater impact.
MESPT works closely with cooperatives, SACCOs, microfinance institutions, and other financial service providers to enhance financial inclusion for farmers and MSMEs. Through these partnerships, the organization supports farmers and agribusinesses to increase productivity, access finance, and strengthen their participation in markets.

Under the MoU, MESPT and KAM will collaborate in several key areas, including supporting agribusiness growth addressing challenges MSMEs face in accessing finance, promoting joint fundraising and resource mobilization, and delivering training and business support for MSMEs and value chain actors.
The partnership also aligns with KAM’s Agriculture for Industry (A4I) initiative, which seeks to strengthen integration between agriculture and manufacturing to drive industrial growth and economic development.
KAM Chief Executive Tobias Alando emphasized the role of strategic partnerships in supporting the growth of Kenya’s manufacturing sector and the wider economy.
“Our ambition is to move the GDP contribution of the manufacturing sector from the current single digit of 7.4 percent to double digits. That ambition will only be achieved when we get the right partners, and I can assure you that MESPT is the right partner to work with us. We appreciate this partnership and will do all we can to make it work to benefit farmers, industry, and the country at large.”
The two organizations will also explore opportunities to mobilize resources, develop blended financing models, and advocate for policies that encourage greater investment in agricultural and agro-processing enterprises.
The MoU was signed by MESPT Chief Executive Officer Rebecca Amukhoye and KAM Chief Executive Tobias Alando, reaffirming the shared commitment of both organizations to strengthening Kenya’s agribusiness ecosystem and supporting sustainable economic growth.
