Micro Enterprises Support Programme Trust (MESPT) has welcomed three new members to its Board of Trustees, bringing together extensive expertise in financial inclusion, sustainable livelihoods, agribusiness, market systems development, digital finance and inclusive economic growth.
The new Trustees bring diverse expertise in financial inclusion, digital finance, sustainable livelihoods, agribusiness, market systems development and governance, strengthening the breadth of experience guiding MESPT’s strategic direction.
Their diverse expertise will further strengthen MESPT’s governance and strategic direction as the organisation continues to advance inclusive finance, sustainable enterprise development and resilient livelihoods for micro, small and medium enterprises and agricultural value chain actors.
David Cracknell is a financial inclusion and digital finance expert with more than 35 years of international experience across Africa, Asia and Europe.
He is currently Director of First Principles Consulting Limited, where he provides strategic advisory services in financial inclusion, agricultural finance, fintech, digital transformation and regulatory frameworks. He previously served as Global Technical Director at MicroSave Consulting and Managing Director of MicroSave Africa, leading teams and programmes focused on digital finance, banking innovation, SACCO transformation and financial sector development.
Mr. Cracknell has worked in more than 25 countries and advised governments, regulators, development partners and financial institutions. He is a Chartered Accountant (ICAEW) and holds a BA in Economics from the University of Leicester, a Postgraduate Diploma in Bank Financial Management from the University of Sri Jayawardenapura, Sri Lanka, and an Oxford Fintech Programme Certificate from Saïd Business School.
His extensive experience in financial inclusion, digital finance and financial sector transformation will provide valuable strategic insight to the MESPT Board.
Dorothy Nduku K. Kipsang is a development professional with more than 24 years of experience in programme design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and learning across Eastern Africa.
Her areas of expertise include sustainable livelihoods, food systems, inclusive value chains, financial inclusion, cooperative development, entrepreneurship and social protection. She currently serves as a Global Advisor for Sustainable Livelihoods, providing strategic and technical leadership in value chain development, market systems, financial inclusion and resilience-building.
Ms. Kipsang holds a Master of Science in Agricultural/Rural Development and a Postgraduate Diploma in Food Science and Nutrition from Ghent University, Belgium, as well as a Bachelor of Education in Home Economics from Kenyatta University.
She also brings extensive governance experience, including serving as Chairperson of Precious Ventures, Trustee and Chair of the Finance Committee at the Makueni Development Trust (MADET), and Vice Chairperson of the Kitoto Secondary School Board of Management.
Her experience in sustainable livelihoods, inclusive markets and governance will complement MESPT’s work to strengthen enterprises, livelihoods and agricultural value chains.
Prof. Robert Mwadime Ngolo (PhD) is a distinguished Kenyan development leader and agribusiness expert with more than 25 years of experience across East Africa.
He has led six USAID-funded programmes as Chief of Party across Kenya, Uganda and Somalia, managing multi-country portfolios valued at between USD 23 million and USD 71 million. His work has focused on agribusiness transformation, market systems development, food security, nutrition-sensitive agriculture and financial inclusion, supporting farmers and enterprises across the region.
Prof. Mwadime holds a PhD in Economic Development and Public Nutrition from Wageningen Agricultural University in the Netherlands, a Master of Public Health in Health Economics/International Health from Johns Hopkins University, an MSc in Applied Human Nutrition from the University of Nairobi and a BSc in Food Science and Technology.
He is an Adjunct Professor at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology in Tanzania and a Visiting Lecturer at Makerere University in Uganda. He has also served on several national and regional boards and professional bodies.
His combination of technical expertise, policy experience, academic leadership and governance will bring valuable perspectives to MESPT’s work in sustainable agriculture, nutrition, enterprise development and inclusive economic growth.
Together, the new Trustees bring a diverse range of expertise that aligns closely with MESPT’s commitment to advancing inclusive finance, sustainable enterprise development, resilient livelihoods and market-led solutions.
Their collective experience in financial services, agriculture, market systems, livelihoods, nutrition, governance and digital transformation will contribute to strengthening MESPT’s strategic oversight and its continued impact among micro, small and medium enterprises, farmers and other value chain actors.
