On 3rd February 2021, the Governor of Migori County H.E. Okoth Obado commissioned several projects within the county. Among them was the ICT Centre at Miyare Agriculture Training Centre that MESPT, through the AgriFI Food Safety programme funded by EU and DANIDA, renovated and equipped with computers and workstations.

Inadequate extension services within the agriculture sector have been blamed for poor agriculture production. The ICT centre will enable farmers to access information and communication technology to strengthen knowledge base in agriculture food safety and security. The renovated ICT Centre will bridge the gap through e-extension and will enable more farmers to handle real time issues affecting their production.

During the commissioning ceremony, the Governor, County Partners, and several county officials experienced a Zoom meeting in the ICT centre. The realisation of the call centre was made possible through the partnership of the county government and AgriFi Food Safety Programme. The NARIG Programme by World Bank also played a role in the establishment of the centre.
